Burberry Prorsum’s Spring/Summer 2015 runway collection, ‘Book covers & Bruce Chatwin,’ was an absolute spectacle! Inclusive of a hand-painted runway and live music from British musician Benjamin Clementine the presentation teemed with the unmistakable je ne sais quoi that has rooted many to the brand’s very British and classy heritage.
Book covers & Bruce Chatwin, inspired by the acclaimed novelist and travel writer, featured original illustrations and typographic prints that took their creative lead from well-travelled vintage English book covers. The journey through the collection was characterized by impeccable tailoring and dusty bright pigments of intense saturation in shades of aqua green, optic white, antique yellow, weathered green, magenta pink, copper and orange ochre, and dark amethyst. Highlight pieces of the collection included velvet collar denim, velvet and linen twill jackets, linen tapered trousers, vintage book print t-shirts and dégradé silk sweaters.
Apparel was complimented by a range of accessories which included the campaign’s buffalo hat—a remake of ’80s Vivienne Westwood version, more recently popularized by Pharrell—leather-bound notebooks, slouchy grainy leather satchels and the pièce de résistance, colourful field sneakers.
Overall, EPIC, and we were glad just to be present… congrats Christopher Bailey and team.
