Jamaican-born, London-raised, model and actor, Michael Ward took home the EE Rising Star BAFTA gong on Sunday night to great applause. After being nominated alongside competitors Awkwafina, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jack Lowden and Kaitlyn Dever, Ward copped the honour.

Ward made his debut starring in the Netflix series, Top Boy, a series revived by Canadian Rapper, Drake, after a five year hiatus. He has since then captured some major gigs on the big screen. His role in the 2019 British Drama Film, Blue Story, written and directed by English rapper, Andrew Onwubolu, known by his alias Rapman, earned him the EE Rising Star, BAFTA award.
